This substance is responsible for the formation of wood in plants. Lignin derivatives serve as binding agents for natural fibres. The basic substance of liquid wood, lignin, is the second most common polymer in nature after cellulose. It is almost unbelievable that the cellulose industry produces around 50 million tons of lignin every year worldwide, which have been used far too little and are mostly burnt until now.
